What is a push present?
A birth present, maternity gold, baby mama gift, baby bauble or a push present. What is it precisely?
A push present is an old tradition that comes in many forms. Mostly maternity gold is a piece of jewellery for the new mom. It can however also be for the baby. Some moms get a gift with the idea to later pass it on to her daughter or daughter in law.
A push present can be anything. A ring, earrings, or a charm to wear on a necklace or a bracelet. A nice reminder of the time you had your new-born baby.
In this blog we want to share 7 types of birth presents which will delight all moms.
Some names have a beautiful meaning, but they are not really easy to catch in a shape. Other names will immediately create an image in mind. Like Rose, Wolf, Luna, or Amber. We love to use your baby’s name for the design inspiration for your personal birth jewel.
Symbols from your birth announcement card
Just like the baby’s name your card, which you have carefully selected, can give a lot of inspiration for the design of a bespoke push present. We start by looking at the colours or theme of the card and start the design process from there..
Tree of life
The tree of life is a symbol for wisdom, protection, power, beauty and abundance. Of course it is a symbol of life itself. Exactly what you wish for your baby. A beautiful tree with roots deeply anchored in the soil and branches reaching for the sky. Could be nice to combine with a gemstone, like a little fruit up in the tree.
Many ancient traditions speak of a connection between specific gemstones, your birth month and/or your zodiac sign. We can add gemstones to all of our Oogst designs. This can be a subtle extra or it can be a piece of jewellery where the gemstone is the main focus.
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend
A diamond is an emblem of purity and perfection and it is the stone of commitment and love in relationships. So except for the use in an engagement ring or in wedding bands it is also ideal as a push present. Diamonds are girl’s best friend!
Akoya pearls have a stunning and pure beauty with its pretty and perfectly round shapes. As mellow, fresh and beautiful as it should be with your baby. Akoya is Japanese for ‘my child’. That’s why it is so meaningful to use these pearls in a push-present.
Sometimes we get the honour to design a remembrance jewel for parents who couldn’t have their child with them for long. We do not have standardized commemorative jewellery but we will work with you to create a bespoke jewel, this could also hold some ashes. We have noticed that such a meaningful memory in the shape of a piece of jewellery can offer a lot of consolation and support.
The last step in the making of a piece of jewellery is to add an engraving. An engraving with the name, initial or/ and date of birth of your child will add the finishing touch to this piece..
Tip: share this blog with other parents to be, not all partners are familiar with this custom of giving a ‘push present’. So you could actually help them a little…
